A NEW SPORT FOR A NEW GENERATION OF ATHLETES
Bravous was born from watching opportunities for young athletes seemingly vanish over the last decade. The multi-sport athlete is more myth than reality now as children’s opportunities to learn from sports have been funneled into a hyper-competitive landscape that forces some players to focus on a single sport at an age as young as 10 years old.
Over this time, the rise of competitive gaming, created an opportunity to design a new kind of sports experience, one that was radically inclusive, had no bench - everyone plays - and was delivered by professionally trained certified coaches.
THE UPSIDE DOWN PYRAMID
In traditional sports, parents are often happy with the physical aspects of competition and but concerned about the impact on academic pursuits. With eSports, the pyramid of parental concerns is almost exactly flipped. Parents are often deeply concerned that kids are playing “too many video games”, but their gamers often have great grades. Bravous is not about playing more games, but playing video games more effectively, with a purpose toward developing the whole person into a balanced competitor.
A SPORT FOR THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY
When you go back and look at the state of the economy when football, basketball, baseball, and hockey were first created; manufacturing and agricultural industries dominated our economy. Sports have always reflected our cultural sense of what makes a successful competitor. In this century however, industry and agriculture make up less than 10% of our economy. What sport most directly reflects the skills that are prized in our current work environment? Cleary it is eSports.
Our goal is to unlock the most positive aspects of eSports like team work, competitive excellence, skill development, emotional intelligence, and technical ability by creating balanced eSport Athletes.
